Here is a list of commonly asked questions I get.
Yes—when booking, you’ll be asked to select a service. Each option has a different session length, price, and health questionnaire that’s automatically sent after booking.
If you’re unsure which one is the best fit, you can explore the Acupuncture for Pain or Stress & Anxiety Support pages, or get in touch, and I’ll help guide you.
Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal. Please wear or bring a pair of shorts or loose trousers, and a short-sleeved top; it simply makes it easier to access the areas being treated during acupuncture.
Yes, both clinic locations have parking options.
If you’re visiting Bellenden Therapies, there are plenty of free parking bays on nearby roads after 11 am, or you can pay at the meter on the high street.
At the Honor Oak studio, unrestricted parking is available on surrounding residential roads.
As a fully accredited member of the British Acupuncture Council, my qualifications are recognised by many health insurance companies, which means your policy may cover acupuncture treatments with me.
Coverage varies by provider and policy, so it’s best to check with your insurer in advance.
You can find more details and a list of commonly supported providers on the Health Insurance page →.
Yes—if you’re booking the combined naturopathy and acupuncture service, you’ll receive a personalised plan after your initial consultation. Most follow-up sessions will also include a review of your progress and an updated protocol, so we can build on what’s working and adjust where needed.
I offer blood test interpretation as part of the naturopathy and acupuncture service. If we're working together in that way, you're welcome to send test results in advance—this allows me to review them before your appointment and use our consultation time more effectively.
Yes, especially if you’re working on stress or anxiety. Some clients alternate between full consultations and acupuncture-only sessions for continued support. It’s a more flexible and cost-effective way to stay consistent with treatment, without needing a full review each time.
Everyone responds differently. Some people notice improvement straight away, while for others it may take a little more time. This depends on the condition being treated, how long it’s been present, and how your body responds. We’ll talk about this during your first session, and you’re always welcome to get in touch beforehand if you’d like to explore whether acupuncture might be right for you.
Yes—and it’s something I see often in the clinic. To properly support menstrual health, I use a combined approach of acupuncture and naturopathic guidance. Together, we’ll look at hormone balance, nutrition, stress, and digestion to address the root cause and reduce pain over time. Please book a naturopathy + acupuncture appointment if this is what you want help with, or get in touch if you have questions.
Yes, this would be a naturopathic consultation. You don't need to be struggling with symptoms to benefit from a review. If you're feeling unsure about your nutrition, supplements, sleep or daily habits, we can work together to check in and make adjustments that support your long-term health.
Yes—when appropriate, I use both electroacupuncture and motor point acupuncture to treat pain and physical tension more directly.
Motor point acupuncture involves targeting specific muscles that aren’t firing properly (known as motor inhibition), which helps restore normal function and reduce strain on surrounding areas. Electroacupuncture uses a gentle current passed between two needles to stimulate muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.
These techniques are especially helpful for conditions like sciatica, chronic tightness, or postural pain, and are part of my structured approach to treating pain at the root, not just the surface.
Most people find acupuncture very relaxing. You may feel a gentle sensation as the needles are inserted, like warmth or tingling, and certain points may feel more sensitive, but it shouldn’t be painful.
Acupuncture uses very fine needles to stimulate specific points on the body that influence the nervous system, improve circulation, and support tissue healing. It’s commonly used to reduce pain, ease tension, support sleep and digestion, and promote a sense of calm.
Research suggests acupuncture may play an important role in regulating the stress response, reducing inflammation, and modulating how the brain processes pain—making it a helpful option for both physical and emotional symptoms.
Naturopathy combines nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and functional thinking to support the body as a whole. In this clinic, it’s always used alongside acupuncture, not as a standalone service for stress and anxiety.
During your consultation, we look at what might be driving symptoms—from blood sugar balance to gut health or nervous system patterns, and create a plan that’s structured, but not overwhelming. This might include food recommendations, supplement support, and nervous system tools like breathwork or daily routine changes.
Everything is tailored to you, and we’ll adjust it as needed over time.
