Body & Mind: An Integrated Approach to Stress and Anxiety

Our understanding of how the body and mind are connected has evolved significantly over the past two decades. We can no longer separate our emotional and mental experiences from the physical symptoms that show up in the body, especially when it comes to stress, anxiety, and nervous system dysregulation.

Supporting these symptoms takes time, care, and a truly integrated approach. Feeling calm, clear and in control isn’t just about mindset; it's influenced by nutrition, sleep, gut health, breathing patterns, and how our bodies respond to everyday stressors. All of these are pillars of resilience and when one is out of balance, it can affect the rest.

That’s why I chose to specialise in supporting stress and anxiety through a blend of naturopathy and acupuncture. Through my work with clients stuck in cycles of dysregulation, often feeling wired, exhausted or emotionally overwhelmed - I’ve seen how powerful this combined approach can be.

When we address nutrition, breathwork, daily patterns and nervous system support through acupuncture, we create a foundation that’s not only effective but also sustainable. Acupuncture alone can offer deep relief, but in my experience, when we leave the other pillars unaddressed, that relief may be temporary. I want to give you tools that help you feel better now and support your long-term wellbeing.

How it works

This service is designed to support your nervous system - not just to calm it temporarily, but to help it regulate more consistently over time.

First...

Understanding you

We begin by understanding how stress or anxiety is showing up in your body, energy, and daily life. You’ll complete a comprehensive health questionnaire before your first session, based on systems biology and whole-person care, helping us identify key areas of imbalance. When appropriate, I may suggest blood tests, often ones your GP will be happy to arrange - to check nutritional status, blood sugar regulation, or other relevant markers. I can also interpret results you've already had, or recommend private testing if needed.

Then...

Your treatment begins

Acupuncture is used to support nervous system regulation and physical release, often creating space for clearer thinking, better sleep, and reduced reactivity.

Alongside this, we take a detailed look at the foundations that influence nervous system health, including your nutrition, blood sugar balance, breath, sleep rhythms, and somatic interventions, such as vagus nerve toning or movement-based regulation strategies.

Finally...

Ongoing support

Together, we’ll build a clear, practical roadmap, using evidence-based tools to support your nervous system from the inside out, and create sustainable change, not overwhelming.

What to Expect in Your First Session

After booking, you’ll receive a health questionnaire to complete before your appointment. This helps me understand your background, current symptoms, and what kind of support may be most helpful, so we can make the most of your time in clinic.

One

Your first session includes a full consultation, where we’ll gently explore what’s contributing to your stress or anxiety, and how it’s affecting your body and daily life. You’ll also receive an acupuncture treatment tailored to support nervous system regulation and emotional balance.

Two

Following the session, I’ll send you a personalised naturopathic plan, which may include nutrition and lifestyle guidance, nervous system tools, and supplement recommendations (if appropriate).

Three

In follow-up sessions, we’ll take time to check in, adapt your plan as needed, and explore supportive techniques like breathwork or nervous system tools, based on what’s most helpful for you at the time. Some clients alternate between full naturopathic sessions and shorter acupuncture-only visits. If that feels right for you, I’ll guide you through how it works - it’s flexible and designed to meet your needs without unnecessary cost or complexity.

This is a collaborative space, we’ll move at your pace, and focus on what feels most relevant and supportive for you.

Why Combine Naturopathy with Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a powerful tool for calming the nervous system, easing physical tension, and helping you feel more grounded, but lasting change often requires deeper support. This is where naturopathy adds value.

By looking at the foundations of nervous system health - like nutrition, blood sugar balance, gut health, sleep, and breath - we can understand and address the patterns that keep symptoms coming back.

When we combine these two approaches, we don’t just treat symptoms; we support the systems behind them. That means more clarity, more resilience, and care that supports your wellbeing in the long term.

FAQs

What does the combined acupuncture and naturopathy session involve?

We start with a full consultation and health questionnaire, looking at what might be driving your symptoms. You'll receive a personalised plan that may include nutrition, supplements, nervous system support (like breathwork), and acupuncture—all tailored to your needs.

What issues can this help with?

Clients come to me for support with overwhelm, anxiety, emotional tension, fatigue, burnout, low resilience, and related symptoms. I also see quite often period-related pain. Together, we look at the nervous system, gut health, blood sugar balance, and lifestyle patterns to gently shift the system into a more regulated state.

Will I receive a treatment plan?

Yes, your initial consultation includes a tailored plan, and most follow-ups include an updated protocol. We track your progress and adjust based on what’s working and how you’re feeling.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Loose, comfortable clothing is best. A short-sleeved top and shorts or loose trousers are helpful, as they allow for easy access to acupuncture points.

Can I have acupuncture-only sessions in between longer consultations?

Yes—this is often helpful. Some clients come for a full review every few weeks and acupuncture-only in between. It’s a flexible and more affordable way to maintain support.

Can I bring blood test results?

Yes—if you’re working with me using the combined naturopathy + acupuncture approach, feel free to send any recent results ahead of your consultation. I also regularly suggest tests you can ask your GP for, or in some cases, more specialised private tests, such as gut test or hormonal tests.

Is acupuncture painful?

Most people describe it as relaxing, and many feel calm or grounded afterwards. Some points may feel more sensitive than others, but treatments should never be painful.

How long does it take to see results?

Everyone’s system responds differently. You might notice improvements after one or two sessions, or it might take longer depending on what we’re working on. We'll talk about this honestly after your first consultation.

Do you treat period-related pain?

Yes—but in most cases, period pain isn’t just a local issue. To get meaningful, lasting results, I combine acupuncture with naturopathic support. This means we look at underlying factors like hormonal balance, nutrition, stress, and gut health. You’ll receive a personalised plan alongside treatment so we can work on the root cause, not just short-term relief.

Can I use health insurance for acupuncture?

As a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council (mBAcC), my treatments are recognised by many health insurers. Check with your provider first, and see my Health Insurance page → for more info.
